Since its establishment in 1914 by J.P. Witt, Witt Building Materials Co. has been proud to serve the Knoxville area. Initially specializing in millwork and planning mill operations, the company later expanded its offerings to include a wide range of building materials. This expansion also led to the introduction of engineered wood products, including wood trusses and floor trusses, where Witt played a pioneering role in Tennessee.

Today, W.R. Witt, the third-generation owner-operator, continues to lead Witt Building Material Co. Inc. with a focus on growth and expansion. Our two locations are strategically designed to better serve our valued customers. The downtown store at 235 Dale Avenue in Knoxville, TN, features a millwork shop and lumber yard, while our 10-acre site at 1242 Weisgarber Road houses a truss shop, warehouse and lumber yard with the capacity to handle large quantities of materials.

Throughout the years, Witt Building Material Co., Inc. has further diversified its offerings by expanding into engineered wood products such as wood I-joists. Additionally, we maintain a comprehensive inventory of renowned brands like Baldwin Brass Locks and Hardware, Schlage.
